There are some elements of Colosseum that remind me of PowerGrid…the need to plan for an ending that comes up fairly shortly, the need to balance making money with expansion of capacity, an auction mechanic where new things to bid on may be revealed that can give a later player an advantage (one good reason to always play with the “Intense Auctions” variant), and what looks like several viable paths to victory. All in all, the game is not as complex as the large number of bits would make it appear; definitely plays faster than PowerGrid. I think this one is going to be another winner.
